Description:
This is a superb quality antique Art Deco bow shaped folding burr walnut cocktail bar drinks cabinet, circa 1930 – 1940, in excellent original condition. This drinks cabinet, when folded away, features a burr walnut moulded top with foliate carving to the edge. When fully folded-out, the cabinet sides fold out on hinges to become side supports for the top, which folds out to become a marble style bar top. Below, the cabinet features an internal compartment. The doors to the internal compartment feature stunning burr walnut veneers, as well as reeded detail with foliate carved corners. The doors also boast the original brass drop handles on foliate escutcheons. The left-hand door retains the original sliding bolt latches and stainless-steel juicer to the interior, while the right-hand door retains the original working lock, with working key, as well as storage for the original six cocktail sticks. The doors open to reveal a mirrored pull-out sliding tray (which is perfect for standing the glasses on to mix the cocktails!), above a three-tier interior, comprising a pair of shelves with metal rails, above a bottle storage space, which has slots for a total of 16 bottles. Between the bottle racks is further storage space – ideal for carafes and decanters. The rear of the cabinet features the original glass sliding doors, which allow the internal compartment to be accessed from the rear. The bottom of the cabinet boasts a carved foliate frieze, and the cabinet rests on bracket feet.
The cabinet features a rich classic golden burr walnut colour. As it boasts the original polish, it has a fantastic colour and patination; this can only be achieved through age and years of care and cleaning it has received.
This item would look superb in a variety of rooms from the hallway to the living room or dining room. This item would certainly grace any home and is a great investment, as it is extremely functional. So, don’t miss out on your chance to own a lovely piece of furniture.
