Description:
This is a fine quality antique Edwardian lady’s solid mahogany and green leather marquetry inlaid cylinder desk, circa 1910, in excellent original condition. Incorporating a shaped pediment back above a sliding retractable cylinder front inlaid with a ribbon-tied urn with leafy scrolls and swags, enclosing a sliding plateau, with inset green leather skiver writing surface, consisting of five pigeon holes and a central drawer. Below, the frieze consists of a pair of drawers, outlined throughout with satinwood stringing and constructed with solid mahogany hand-dovetailed drawer linings and retains the original brass knobs. The desk stands on satinwood string inlaid tapered square legs, terminating on its original brass castors. The cylinder retains the original working brass lever lock and key. The desk has been cleaned and wax-polished polished by hand to a professional standard in our workshop, therefore the patination and colour of an excellent standard.
The desk features a lovely mahogany colour. As it boasts the original polish, it has a fantastic colour and patination; this can only be achieved through age and years of care and cleaning it has received.

Condition Report:
This is a fine quality antique Edwardian lady’s solid mahogany and green leather marquetry inlaid cylinder desk, circa 1910, in excellent original condition. Some nominal old use marks and shakes to the top and leading edges but nothing significant considering the age of the item (see photos). There are no missing drawers or compartments to the interior. There are no ink or significant water stains on the top of the desktop (which is common on these desks) or drawers. The cylinder desk incorporates a leather skiver inset, which is in good overall condition. The cylinder roll-top opens freely and cylinder retains the original working locks (with key). The desk boasts hand-dovetailed mahogany lined drawers and its original external brass knobs and handles. The desk stands on its original brass castors, which are also in good condition. The cylinder desk has been cleaned and wax-polished polished by hand to a professional standard in our workshop, therefore the patination and colour of an excellent standard. This desk is solid in joint and ready to use.
