Here is a fine quality antique English Edwardian solid ash & oak revolving office armchair, circa 1910, which has been newly upholstered in dark green leather and is in excellent condition. The armchair features a comfortable curved oak bar back, incorporating a pierced handle, above an ash curved rail, which also forms down-curved wrap around arms, supported by a bank of elegant ring turned spindles. The chair seat has been newly upholstered, to a professional standard, in top quality full grain sage leather, which has been finished with hand-tacked brass studs to the perimeter. The chair has also been French polished, by hand, to a professional standard. The chair sits on four splayed solid oak legs that terminate on replacement English made solid brass castors. The office chair incorporates a revolving mechanism which rotates 360 degrees; the seat height can be adjusted simply by turning the seat one way or the other to raise and lower the chair. The chair mechanism is not designed to recline. The chair mechanism has been cleaned, restored and serviced and is in excellent working order. The chair frame is sturdy and the item is extremely comfortable to sit on, as it features a lovely padded seat.
The office armchair boasts a rich-brown colour. It has a lovely colour and patination; this can only be achieved through age and years of care and cleaning it has received. This desk chair would look superb in a variety of rooms in the home, especially the office or study as it is so comfortable. This item would certainly grace any home.
Condition Report:
The desk chair and mechanism are in excellent condition, considering its age. Nominal old use marks to the leading edges of the chair but nothing significant considering the age of the item. The chair frame has been glued to ensure it is solid in joint. The chair frame has been French polished by hand, to a professional standard, therefor the colour and patination of the timer is of an excellent standard. The chair seat has been newly upholstered, to a professional standard, in top quality full grain dark green leather, which incorporates the traditional brass studwork tacks to the seat perimeter. Therefore, the leather is in excellent condition, with no wear, fading or damage. The adjustable height mechanism is in good working order, having just been cleaned, restored and serviced. The chair mechanism is not designed to recline. There is some play to the mechanism but this is perfectly acceptable, and in line with the age of the chair. The chair sits on four splayed solid legs that terminate on replacement English made solid brass castors. This desk chair is solid in joint and ready to use.
