Description:
Here is a fine quality antique English George IV oak side table, circa 1820, in good condition.
Most likely constructed for a country dwelling, it comprises a two plank moulded top with a single working drawer, finished with cock-beading, ebony string inlay and a Regency influenced mahogany escutcheon and the original working lever lock (with key). The drawer displays good quality later Victorian brass handles and back plates. The drawer is constructed of pine and is hand dovetailed, with the original backboards. The table features a decorative astragal bead frieze below the drawer and the whole piece is raised on fine tapering square legs. The table boasts a stunning mellow colour and lovely medullary rays are prominent in the oak.
This item features a mellow oak colour. As it boasts the original polish, it has a fantastic colour and patination; this can only be achieved through age and years of care and cleaning it has received.
This item would look superb in a variety of rooms from the dining room, living room or the hallway. The desk would certainly grace any home or office and is a great investment, as it is extremely functional. So don’t miss out your chance to own a lovely piece of furniture.
