Description:
This is a fine quality English George IV mahogany library armchair, with a newly upholstered seat, circa 1830, in excellent condition. The chair is constructed from solid mahogany and features a curved bar back, with curved horizontal central splat, secured by scroll shaped arms. The drop-in seat has been newly upholstered in top quality taupe colour structured cotton fabric. If you do not like the colour/style of the upholstery, we can re-cover the seat in a fabric of your choice, for an additional £40. The seat has also been professionally re-stuffed and re-webbed. The underside of the seat is finished with traditional hessian backing. The seat is firm but extremely comfortable to sit on. The chair stands on fine turned legs at the front and sabre legs to the rear.
The chair boasts a rich brown mahogany colour. As it boasts the original polish, it has a lovely colour and patination; this can only be achieved through age and years of care and cleaning it has received.
This Georgian library armchair would look superb in the hallway, office or library. It would certainly grace any home and is a great investment as it is extremely functional. So, don’t miss out on your chance to own a lovely piece of furniture.
