Description:
Here is a fine quality antique English Georgian solid mahogany & oak occasional side table, circa 1780 – 1800, with lovely small proportions, useful as a bedside or small lamp table, displaying a lovely mellow colour, in excellent condition. The table benefits from lovely small proportions, boasting a single-plank mahogany top (a sign of quality), with a bevel moulded edge, above a single working oak drawer. The drawer incorporates old replacement brass swan neck handles on circular escutcheons. The pine-lined drawer is constructed with fine hand-dovetail joints and the oak drawer front is decorated with cock-beading. The drawer retains the original working lock, with a working key. The drawer runs smoothly and closes flush to the frame. The table stands on four moulded block legs, united by ‘H’ stretchers, giving additional strength. The table has been constructed in the traditional manner for that period. The table is solid in joint and ready to use.
The table boasts a lovely mellow mahogany colour. The table has been cleaned and French polished by hand to a professional standard in our workshop, therefore the colour and patination is of an excellent standard, along with the years of care and cleaning it has received.
This item would look superb in a variety of rooms from the living room to the hallway, or useful as a bedside table. The table would certainly grace any home and is a great investment, as it is extremely functional.
