Description:
This is a good quality antique English provincial Georgian oak two drawer side table, also known as an “Estate table”, with two drawers, circa 1800, displaying a mellow period oak colour, in excellent original condition. Such a table would have been made for use on a country estate, used for office paperwork and collecting land rent from tenants. The table comprises a straight-edged two-plank mellow coloured oak top, above two working drawers, with a scribe moulded frontage. The oak-lined drawer is constructed with butt-joints and incorporates the original Georgian brass handle and backplates. The drawers run smoothly and closes flush to the frame. The table stands on four simple block legs. The table retains the original top and backboard to the rear; the frame has been constructed in the traditional manner for that period. Ideal for use a side table in a hallway, or even a small writing desk. The oak side table is solid in joint and ready to use.
The Georgian oak two drawer side table boasts a mellow period oak colour. The Estate table has been wax-polished by hand in our workshop. As it boasts the original polish, it has a fantastic colour and patination; this can only be achieved through age and years of care and cleaning it has received.
This oak side table would look superb in a variety of rooms from the living room to the hallway, or useful as a writing table. The table would certainly grace any home or office and is a great investment, as it is extremely functional. So, don’t miss out on your chance to own a lovely piece of furniture.
