Description:
This is a fine quality English Georgian Regency mahogany bar back dining chair, with a newly upholstered stuff-over seat, circa 1830, in excellent condition. The chair is constructed from solid mahogany and features a curved, reeded bar back, above a turned, barley twist central splat, connecting with a reeded frame. The stuff-over sprung seat has been newly upholstered in top quality red & gold chenille that incorporates a latticework and foliate pattern, finished with matching red braiding. If you prefer a different colour/style of upholstery, we can re-cover the seat in a fabric of your choice for an additional £40. The underside of the seat is finished with traditional hessian backing. The seat is firm and you do not sink into it, but at the same time, it is extremely comfortable to sit on. The chair stands on fine ring turned front legs, with sabre legs to the rear.
The chair boasts a dark rich brown mahogany colour. As it boasts the original polish, it has a lovely colour and patination; this can only be achieved through age and years of care and cleaning it has received.
The chair would look superb in the hallway, office or library. It would certainly grace any home and is a great investment as it is extremely functional. So don’t miss out on your chance to own a lovely piece of furniture.
