Description:
This is a fine quality antique English Regency mahogany Canterbury, circa 1820, in good original condition. The Canterbury is divided into three compartments, by four straight panels with simple slatted uprights. The compartments are ideal for storing magazines, newspapers or music sheets. All four corners feature straight supports, which terminate on the original brass castors. The panels also feature shaped supports to the centre and straight supports to the sides. Below the partitions is a single mahogany lined drawer, boasting hand dovetailed joints and the original blue paper drawer lining. The drawer also features the original mahogany turned knobs with cock beading. The Canterbury reflects a simple but refined style, typical of the Regency period; it has been constructed from the finest mahogany timbers.
The Canterbury features a rich mellow brown mahogany colour. As it boasts the original polish, it has a fantastic colour and patination; this can only be achieved through age and years of care and cleaning it has received.
