Description:
This is a fine quality antique English George IV mahogany butlers’ tray on stand, circa 1830, in excellent original condition, with small / narrow proportions. This type of tray was used both on grand tours and campaigns, but also in wealthy houses for serving drinks. It boasts a fine quality side-loading tray with shaped side carrying handles. As it is constructed of top quality mahogany with a dovetail construction, it is reasonably heavy (a sign of quality) with a stunning original colour & patination. The base is constructed of two mahogany planks (another sign of quality). The tray sits on its original quality mahogany-folding stand with a connecting stretcher for added strength. What makes this an unusual and rare example is the fact that it features a narrow-sized tray and the webbing straps to the stand are original.
This tray and table is a truly classic example from the early Victorian period. The level of detail and craftsmanship displayed second to none. It is rare to see an example, which not only is in excellent condition but also completely original.
The item features a rich red-brown mahogany colour. As it boasts the original polish, it has a fantastic colour and patination; this can only be achieved through age and years of care and cleaning it has received. This truly is a very beautiful item with quality construction and is original throughout. It is rare to see one in such good condition.
This item would look superb in a variety of rooms from the hallway to living or dining room. This item would certainly grace any home or office and a great investment, as they are an extremely functional. So don’t miss out your chance to own a lovely piece of furniture.
Condition Report:

The level of detail and craftsmanship displayed is second to none. There are no splits to the drinks tray either. There are nominal old use marks to the leading edges but nothing significant considering the age of the item and years of use. The mahogany tray and stand are both sturdy.
