Description:
This is a good quality pair of antique English Georgian style mahogany writing side tables, constructed during the Edwardian period, circa 1910, with two drawers, displaying a lovely rich colour and in fine original condition. The tables incorporate a moulded top, above two working drawers. The drawers retain the original brass swan neck handles and backplates. The mahogany-lined drawers are constructed with fine dovetail joints. The moulded drawer runs smoothly and closes flush to the frame. The drawers retain the original working brass lever locks (with key). The table is raised on four straight tapering block legs, united by stretchers for additional strength and terminate on spade feet. The tables retain the original top and backboards to the rear; the frame has been constructed in the traditional manner for that period.
These tables would look superb in a variety of rooms from the living room to the hallway, or useful as writing tables. The tables would certainly grace any home or office and is a great investment, as it is extremely functional. So, don’t miss out on your chance to own a lovely piece of furniture.
Condition Report:
These tables are in fine original condition, considering their age. Nominal old use marks to the leading edges, top and inside of drawer, but nothing significant considering the age of the item (see photos). There are no stains or damage to the table-tops. The drawers are in good working order and closes flush to the frame. There are ink stains in some of the drawer bottoms, where the table has been used a writing tables in the past. The drawers retain the original brass swan neck handles and escutcheons, along with the original brass working lever locks (with key). The table features the original tops and backboards to the rear. There are no breaks to the frame or legs. The frames have been constructed in the traditional manner for that period. The tables display a rich mahogany colour and patination. The tables are well constructed, solid in joint and ready to use.
