Description:
This is a good quality antique English pair of adapted Georgian provincial solid oak wall hanging spice cabinets / cupboards, with narrow proportions, circa 1780, in excellent condition. They are cupboards which have been adapted from a dresser rack. The cupboards exhibit narrow proportions, which are ideal for use in confined spaces or on small walls. Comprising a moulded protruding cornice, above a single cupboard door, which retains the original steel hinges, original lock (with no key), original turned wooden knob and wooden latches. The interior of the cupboard has been newly painted in a natural sage colour. The interior features a four-tier bank of shelves, above three oak fronted drawers in a two-over-one configuration. The drawers are oak lined, with small brass drop handles, and close flush to the frame. The hanging cabinets feature the original pine backboards. The backboards incorporate wall attachment brackets with screw holes for mounting them to the wall. If you intend to store heavy items, it is advised stronger wall brackets and appropriate screw fixings are used to safely secure to the wall. The cupboards terminate on the original moulded plinth. This pair of cupboards is ideal in the kitchen or dining room, and offers significant storage space off the floor. They are solid in joint and ready to use.
The hanging cupboards have been traditionally wax polished by hand in our workshop; therefore, the finish and colour are in excellent condition.
The cupboards feature a rich dark brown oak colour. They have fantastic colour and patination, having been cleaned and wax polished, along with the years of care and cleaning they have received.
These oak wall cabinets would look superb in any hallway, dining room or kitchen. They would certainly grace any home and are a great investment, as they are extremely functional. So, don’t miss out on your chance to own a lovely piece of furniture.
