Description:
This is a fine quality antique English early Victorian ash & elm Windsor armchair, comprising stick and a hoop back, circa 1840, with stunning grain configuration and colour, in good original condition. The armchair is designed with a spindle back the inside of a single piece oval bent ash moulded back rail. The back rail is secured to stunning two-piece saddle shaped elm seat by shaped arms on shaped supports. The armchairs are raised on turned legs, connected by “H” form stretchers, which makes them a firm utility chair, ideal for daily use in the kitchen. The stick back style of chair first originated in High Wycombe, Buckinghamshire, England. The chairs feature a stunning rich colour with fabulous grain configuration visible on the elm seats.
This armchair boasts the classic country styling; it would be at home in either a traditional or contemporary setting in a kitchen or dining room and it consumes very little space. The chairs feature a rich brown ash and elm colour. As it boasts the original polish, it has a fantastic colour and patination; this can only be achieved through the years of care and cleaning it have received.
