Description:
This is a fine quality antique English Victorian 3ft 6” mahogany and leather pedestal office desk, circa 1870, in excellent condition. The desk incorporates a moulded top, which boasts a new burgundy red inset leather skiver, decorated with elegant gold tooling. Therefore, the leather is in very good condition. The top section features three drawers, including a wider central drawer, with a further three drawers to each pedestal blow, therefore a total of 9 drawers. The drawers are designed with straight fronts and retain their original mahogany turned knobs. The drawers are constructed with hand-dovetail joints, with mahogany linings and quarter beading (a sign of quality). All the drawers retain their original working brass lever locks. The desk comes with a working key. The pedestals sit on their original moulded plinths. The desk is polished on all sides, which means it can be freestanding and situated in the centre of the room. The desk can be dismantled into three sections for easy transport and access into the home or office.
This desk has been cleaned and French polished, by hand, to a professional standard, therefore the colour and patination is of an excellent standard.
