This is a good quality rustic antique English Victorian Gothic carved oak hall bench, with a scrub finish, circa 1860, in good condition. The seat features an elegant shaped back with a circular carved central panel flanked by sweeping fretwork scroll foliage. The seat itself features a carved moulded edge. Below, the recessed frieze incorporates detailed draped carvings, interspersed with flowers above multiple Gothic arches. The two front legs are profusely carved with foliage and terminate on carved paw feet. The design and carvings seen on this bench have been taken from the 16th century period. This item features a scrub oak finish and therefore benefits from a mellow rustic colour.

Condition Report:
This bench is in good condition, having been constructed from solid oak. Nominal old use marks to the top of the seat and leading edges but nothing significant considering the age of the item. The bench features a lovely mellow rustic scrub colour. This item is well constructed, solid in joint and ready to use.
