Description:
This is a pretty Jacobean style solid oak geometric dresser base / sideboard, constructed during the Victorian period with two drawers, circa 1870, in excellent original condition. It was fashionable to reproduce earlier 17th century furniture during the Victorian period. The Jacobean period stretched from 1603 to 1625 during the James 1st reign. The dresser boasts a lovely size, with great craftsmanship including a lovely moulded twin plank solid oak top. The front of the dresser features classic geometric applied mouldings to the drawer fronts, flanked by further turned applied mouldings to the frame, along with moulded inset side panels and a moulded frieze. The two large working drawers, which are hand dovetailed, oak and pine lined, incorporate their original solid bras knobs. The dresser is raised on turned legs with block legs to the rear. The backboards, inset side panels and drawer linings are constructed of solid oak and pine.
This item features a rich brown oak colour. It has a fantastic original colour and patination; this can only be achieved through age and years of care and cleaning it has received.
This item would look superb in a variety of rooms from the dining room, living room or the hallway. The item would certainly grace any home or office and a great investment, as they are an extremely functional.
Condition Report:
This is a pretty Jacobean style solid oak geometric dresser base / sideboard, constructed during the Victorian period with two drawers, circa 1870, in excellent original condition. Nominal old use marks to the top and leading edges but nothing significant considering the age of the item (see photos). drawers are in good working order and close flush to the frame. The drawers incorporate their original Victorian solid brass knobs. The dresser has been professionally wax polished, by hand, in our workshop, therefore it boasts a lovely rich colour and patination. This dresser is well constructed, solid in joint and ready to use.
