Description:
This is a fine quality English antique Victorian solid mahogany carved balloon back chair, circa 1860, which has been newly upholstered and polished, to a professional standard, in excellent condition. Ideal for use as an occasional chair in either the dining room, office or library. The chair is designed with an attractive “balloon” shaped decoratively carved back, and a shaped central horizontal carved splat. The chair incorporates a generous stuff-over seat which has been newly upholstered, to a professional standard, in top quality pale gold structured satin brocade, interspersed with a floral diamond pattern design, finished with matching braiding. The chair frame, which has been French polished, to a professional standard in our workshop. The chair stands on sturdy ring turned front legs and rear sabre legs. If you do not like the colour/style of the upholstery, we can recover the seat in a fabric of your choice. If you would like the seat recovered, please contact us for a quote.
The chair features a rich red and brown mahogany colour. As it boasts the original polish, they have a fantastic colour and patination; this can only be achieved through age and years of care and cleaning it has received.

Nominal old use marks to the leading edges of the chair frame but nothing significant considering the age of the item. The chair has been tightened and professionally French polished in our workshop to a high standard. The stuff-over seat has been newly upholstered, to a professional standard, in a pale gold structured satin brocade, interspersed with a floral diamond pattern design, finished with matching braiding. The upholstery is therefore clean, free from wear and marks. If you do not like the colour/style of the upholstery, we can recover the seat in a fabric of your choice.
