Description:
Here is a fine quality antique English early Victorian 5ft solid mahogany partner’s desk, incorporating a new black leather, with drawers either side, circa 1860, in excellent condition. The desk boasts a top-quality full grain black inset leather, decorated with gold tooling, which is bordered by a mahogany bevel moulded top. There are three working drawers to both the front and rear of the top section, with each pedestal also comprising four graduated drawers to one side of the pedestals, therefore a total of 12 drawers. This includes a large central drawer to the top section, front and rear. All drawers boast moulded fronts and original working locks, with working key. The drawers are mahogany lined, constructed with hand-dovetails and feature quarter beaded interiors (a sign of quality). The drawer fronts are decorated with later turned knobs. Both pedestals also include a locking cupboard to the rear, each with a moulded panel door and opening to reveal a removable / height adjustable shelf. The pedestals sit on moulded plinths, whilst retaining the original castors underneath. The desk is freestanding which means it can be situated in the centre of the room. As this is a large desk, it means there is significant storage space available. The desk can be dismantled into three sections for easy transport and access into the home.
This desk features a stunning red-brown mahogany colour. It has a fantastic colour and patination; having been cleaned and French polished to a professional standard in our workshop.
This Victorian office pedestal desk would look superb in a variety of rooms from the work place to the home office. This item would certainly grace any home and is a great investment as it is extremely functional. So, don’t miss out your chance to own a lovely piece of furniture.
