Description:
Here is a fine quality antique English early Victorian mahogany table, circa 1840, in good original condition. Constructed from mahogany, it benefits from a lovely single-plank top (sign of quality) finished with thumb moulding. Below, there aretwo full-length working drawers, displaying recessed moulded drawer fronts, which also boast their original mahogany knobs. The mahogany lined drawer’s features lovely fine hand dovetailed joints; they run smoothly and close flush to the frame. The table stands on four stunning tapered fluted legs, terminating on the original brass castors cups and mug castors.
This item features a rich mahogany colour. It has a fantastic colour and patination; this can only be achieved through age and years of care and cleaning it has received.
This item would look superb in a variety of rooms from the living room as a side table, to the hallway as a console table, or as a writing table in a study. This table is in good original condition. Nominal old use marks to the leading edges and drawer interiors, but nothing significant considering the age of the item. The table boasts its original brass castor cups and mug castors. The drawers are in good working order and close flush to the frame. The drawers retain the original turned mahogany knobs, which reflect the design of this period. There are no splits to the top (as the top is impressively constructed from a single piece of timber), no breaks to the legs or castors. The table boasts a fantastic colour and patination. This table is well constructed, solid in joint and ready to use.
