Description:
Here is a superb antique English Victorian solid oak revolving office desk arm chair, circa 1880, boasting a brown upholstered leather removable cushion seat, in excellent original working condition.
The chair features a curved bar back, secured by wraparound arms, on shaped vertical supports. Below the bar back is an elegant pierced fretwork back splat, framed below by a curved rail on shaped supports, uniting the shaped scroll bar back and wraparound arms with the seat frame. The chair features a removable cushion, which has been upholstered in a good quality full grain brown leather. The seat itself is saddle shaped and the chair is very comfortable to sit on, with or without the cushion. The chair rotates 360 degrees. The chair mechanism has been cleaned and serviced and is in good working order. The chair stands on solid shaped legs, united by shaped and pierced cross stretchers for additional strength, terminating on the original solid brass and steel roller ball castors. The chair is very comfortable to sit on, has a lovely colour and is in good condition.
This item features a rich brown mahogany colour. It has a lovely colour and patination; this can only be achieved through age and years of care and cleaning it has received.
This desk chair would look superb in a variety of rooms in the home, especially the office or study as it so comfortable. This item would certainly grace any home. So, don’t miss out on your chance to own a lovely piece of furniture.
Condition Report:
This Victorian oak revolving desk chair and mechanism are in excellent working original condition. Nominal old use marks to the leading edges of the chair frame, but nothing significant considering the age of the item. The chair frame has been cleaned and French polished by hand, to a professional standard, in our workshop. Therefore, the colour and patination to wood is of an excellent standard. The chair features top quality newly upholstered full grain brown leather removable cushion. The leather is therefore in excellent new condition, free from signs of wear and tear. The original revolving ball bearing mechanism is in good working order, having been stripped down, cleaned and serviced. There is some play to the mechanism, but this is perfectly acceptable, and in line with the age of the chair, and will be found in all office chairs of this age. The shaped legs terminate on the original solid brass and steel roller ball castors, which are in good condition. There are no breaks to the legs or revolving mechanism. The chair is well constructed, solid in joint and ready to use.
