Description:
This is a good quality pair of antique English Victorian solid walnut carved balloon back occasional dining chairs, circa 1890, with pink structured satin brocade upholstery, which would benefit from being re-covered, in good overall condition. Ideal for use as occasional chairs in either the dining room, living room or office. The chairs are designed with an attractive “balloon” shaped moulded back, and a foliate carved horizontal splat. The chairs incorporate pink coloured structured satin brocade upholstery, interspersed with a floral diamond pattern design, finished with matching braiding. The chair stands on cabriole legs to the front and sabre legs to the rear. The chairs would benefit from being re-covered as there are old use marks and wear to the upholstery. This pair of walnut dining chairs exude a rich warm brown walnut colour. The chair frames have been cleaned and wax-polished by hand, therefore the colour and patination are of a high standard, along with the years of care and cleaning they have received.
These Victorian occasional chairs would look would look good anywhere, from a formal room or for everyday use. They would certainly grace any home or office and are a great investment, as they are extremely functional.

This is a good quality pair of antique English Victorian solid walnut carved balloon back occasional dining chairs, circa 1890, with pink structured satin brocade upholstery, which would benefit from being re-covered, in good overall condition. The chair frames have been cleaned and wax-polished by hand, therefore the colour and patination are of a high standard, along with the years of care and cleaning they have received. Nominal old use marks to the leading edges of the chair frame but nothing significant considering the age of the item. The stuff-over seats are upholstered in pink coloured structured satin brocade, interspersed with a floral diamond pattern design, finished with matching braiding. The chairs would benefit from being re-covered as there are old use marks and wear to the upholstery (see photos). The upholstery to one chair is in good condition, with no signs of wear, tears or stains, with traditional webbing to the underside. The other chair has some discolouration, as well as a small tear present to the right-hand side, with black lining to the underside. The chair frame and joints are all in excellent condition, solid in joint and ready to be used.
