Description:
Here is a fine quality antique English Victorian duet stool, constructed of solid mahogany, circa 1880, which has been newly upholstered in a champagne pale gold satin brocade, in excellent condition. The stuff-over hinged seat has been newly upholstered in top quality luxurious pale gold structured satin brocade upholstery, with matching braiding. If you do not like the colour/style of the upholstery, we can re-cover the seat in a fabric of your choice, for an additional £60. The seat itself is firm, which means that you won’t sink into the upholstery, but at the same time, it is very comfortable to sit on. Below, the stool boasts a moulded box frame, adorned with fine Rococo acanthus carvings to all sides, above a moulded serpentine shaped frieze. The duet stool is raised on elegant moulded cabriole legs, decorated with fine acanthus leaf carvings to the knees and terminate on fine scroll toes.
The hinged seat lifts open to reveal two internal storage compartments; ideal for the storage of sheet music, if the item is used as a piano stool. The seat lid will remain open until you close the original solid brass-folding stay on the left-hand side. The compartment roof retains the original mahogany panels to the inside of the lid, as well as the original mahogany base.
This Victorian duet stool features a rich dark brown mahogany finish. It has a fantastic colour and patination; this can only be achieved through age and years of care and cleaning it has received.
This Victorian piano duet stool would look superb in a variety of rooms from the bedroom to living room. This item would certainly grace any home and is a great investment as it is extremely functional. So, don’t miss out on your chance to own a lovely piece of furniture.
