We can specifically date this chair as the date “6.1.95” is stamped into the cast iron central block on the underneath of the chair (see photo). The armchair features a comfortable curved oak bar back, incorporating a pierced handle, above an ash curved rail, which also forms down-curved wrap around arms, supported by a bank of elegant ring turned spindles. The chair seat has been newly upholstered, to a professional standard, in top quality full grain sage leather, which has been finished with hand-tacked brass studs to the perimeter. The chair has also been French polished, by hand, to a professional standard. The chair sits on four splayed solid oak legs that terminate on replacement English made solid brass castors. The office chair incorporates a revolving mechanism which rotates 360 degrees; the seat height can be adjusted simply by turning the seat one way or the other to raise and lower the chair. The chair mechanism has been cleaned, restored and serviced and is in excellent working order. The chair frame is sturdy and the item is extremely comfortable to sit on, as it features a lovely padded seat.
The armchair features a golden-brown colour. It has a lovely colour and patination; this can only be achieved through age and years of care and cleaning it has received.
