Description:
Here is a superb example of a quality antique French provincial cherry wood farmhouse refectory table from the 2nd Empire period, circa 1850, in good original condition. This table would have been used in a country property in France during the 2nd Empire period. The table, which comfortably seats up to 6 persons, features a beautiful figured five-plank cherry wood top with a lovely silk grain configuration and a rich cherry wood colour. The table boasts a large pullout chestnut breadboard at one end and large chestnut lined drawer at the other end, featuring the original handles. Tables that feature pullout breadboards are more desirable than those without. The table frame and top, which is constructed in the traditional peg construction, sits on four pretty but sturdy tapering block legs with scribe detail. The apron is decorated with a fine beaded mouding. The table boasts a superb original rich cherry wood colour and is in good original condition.
The table boasts a rich orange cherry wood colour. As it boasts the original polish, it has a fantastic colour and patination; this can only be achieved through age and years of care and cleaning it has received.

This table is in good original condition. The table boasts its original breadboard and drawer at either end with the original knobs. There are no water stains or cup marks to the top of the table. Nominal old use marks to the top and leading edges but nothing significant considering the age of the item. Tables that feature pullout breadboards are more desirable than those without. The table boasts a rich cherry wood colour. As it boasts the original polish, it has a fantastic colour and patination; this can only be achieved through age and years of care and cleaning it has received. The table is solid in joint and ready to use.
