Description:
Here is a superb example of a quality antique French provincial cherry wood farmhouse refectory table from the 2nd Empire period, circa 1860, in good original condition. This table would have been used in a country property in France during the 2nd Empire period. The table, which comfortably seats up to 8 persons, features a beautiful figured four-plank cherry wood top with a lovely silk grain configuration and mellow colour, with cleats at both ends. It boasts a large pullout chestnut breadboard and large chestnut lined drawer at both ends, featuring the original drawer knobs. Tables that feature pullout breadboards are more desirable than those without, but to have breadboards at either end makes this a far superior table compared to other French refectory tables. The table frame and top, which is constructed in the traditional peg construction, sits on four pretty but sturdy cabriole legs. It also boasts an elegant scalloped apron, which is rare to see. The item boasts a superb original mellow colour and is in very good original condition.
The table boasts a light mellow cherry wood colour. As it boasts the original polish, it has a fantastic colour and patination; this can only be achieved through age and years of care and cleaning it has received.
This item would look superb in a variety of rooms, especially the kitchen. This item would certainly grace any home. So don’t miss out on your chance to own a lovely piece of furniture.
