This is a fine quality Georgian style figured walnut bow fronted chest on chest, with lovely proportions, circa 1920, in good original condition. Constructed in the style of the George I period, which was 1714 – 1727, it boasts classic Georgian detailing from the elegant brushing slide to the cabriole bracket feet. The chest features a protruding moulded cornice, with decorative beading below, above a graduated six-drawer configuration, with a pronounced bowed front design. The chest consists of two halves with an elegant moulding at the midpoint. The top section is smaller than the bottom section, which consists of three graduated drawers. Stunning figured walnut mirror matched veneers are visible on the drawer fronts, finished with walnut cross-banding detail, displays a touch of sophistication to this piece. The drawers retain their original brass fretwork handles and escutcheons and dovetailed construction. There is an elegant and useful pull-out brushing slide situated above the third drawer in the lower section. The lower section comprises of three graduated drawers in the same bow front design, with a simple apron to the underside terminating on the original cabriole bracket feet. The chest also features its original backboards and the whole of the chest stands on its original splayed bracket feet. The top and bottom are original. The item dismantles into two sections for easy access into the house and up the staircase. This is an ideal item for the bedroom or landing as it provides significant storage space for clothes.
The chest boasts a mellow brown walnut colour. As it boasts the original polish, it has a fantastic colour and patination; this can only be achieved through age and years of care and cleaning it has received.

Condition Report:
The chest on chest is completely original and is in good condition. Some nominal old use marks to the leading edges but nothing significant considering the age of the item. All six drawers feature the original brass swan neck handles and escutcheons, and close flush to the frame. The chest also stands on its original cabriole bracket feet and incorporates its original backboards. This chest boasts its original polish, which ensures a fantastic colour to the figured walnut. The chest is well constructed, solid in joint, does not wobble and is ready to be used.
