Description:
This is a lovely antique Welsh late George III dresser base, displaying a lovely mellow colour, constructed of solid quarter sawn oak, circa 1810, in excellent original condition. Originating from North Wales, the dresser comprises a solid three plank oak top. Below, the dresser is designed with a central column of working oak fronted drawers flanked by a cupboard and a drawer each side. The dresser is constructed with lovely quarter sawn oak timbers, boasting stunning medullary ray (similar to tiger stripes) in the timbers. The base consists of six working drawers which retain their original brass round knobs and diamond shaped bone key escutcheons. The cupboard doors are decorated with inset moulded rectangular panels. It is nice to see that this dresser features all its working drawers. Quite often, similar dressers have feature faux / decorative drawers down the centre but this dresser boasts all working drawers, which is a nice feature. All drawers are pine lined with butt joints, smooth running and close flush to the frame. The top central drawer features a working lock and key (all others are faux keyholes). The two cupboard doors retain their original working locks, with working key. The dresser stands on the original shaped bracket feet to the front and block feet to the rear.
This North Wales dresser boasts its original polish and patination, displaying a mellow golden-brown oak colour, which has been created from 200 years of care. This dresser is an excellent investment and would look superb in a variety of rooms from the kitchen, hall way or the living room, offering plenty of useful storage space. This dresser base would certainly grace any home.

All drawers and doors are in good working condition. The top central drawer features a working lock (with key), as do both cupboard doors, with their own key.
