Description:
Here is a fine example of a superb quality antique Georgian oak dresser, originating from South Wales, boasting a stunning mellow oak colour, circa 1800 – 1820, in excellent original condition. The dresser features an open rack, with three grooved horizontal racks that can support plates. To the top of the rack there is a lovely moulded protruding cornice, with shaped frieze. The rack rests upon the dresser base, on large strong shaped shoes. The dresser base boasts a solid single-plank oak top, (a sign of quality), below which are five fully working drawers and a pretty central arch. The drawers are pine lined, hand dovetailed, close flush to the frame and feature cock beaded fronts. The central drawer retains its original lock, with working key, and brass key escutcheon. All drawers also boast their original turned handles, with circular patterned mother-of-pearl inlay. Further below, the dresser base is raised above a pot board. The pot board features turned column supports to the front and squared supports to the rear. The dresser stands on the original bracket feet. This Georgian oak dresser boasts its original polish and patination, displaying a mellow golden-brown oak colour, which has been created from 200 years of care.

Condition Report:
This Georgian oak dresser is in excellent original condition, considering its age. The base and rack are original to each other and are not a marriage. Nominal old use marks to the top of the dresser and leading edges, but nothing significant considering the age of the item. The drawers boast their original turned handles with mother-of-pearl inlay. They also feature hand dovetail construction and cock beaded fronts. The central drawer retains its original working lock, with brass key escutcheon and working key. All drawers and doors are in good working condition. The drawer linings, pot board and feet are all original. The dresser boasts the original polish; therefore, it has a fantastic depth of colour and patination displaying a lovely mellow golden-brown oak colour. This item is solid in joint and ready to use.
