Description:
This is a fine quality antique Welsh oak dresser, from the George III period, with a pot-board, boasting a rich oak colour, originating from South Wales, circa 1780 – 1800, in excellent condition. The dresser comprises an open rack, with three grooved horizontal racks that can support plates, along with banded strips to provide additional plate support to the top two shelves. The shelf fronts feature 12 English made solid brass replacement cup hooks. To the top of the rack there is a lovely moulded protruding cornice, with a straight frieze. The rack rests upon the dresser base, on large strong shaped shoes. The dresser base boasts a solid oak top, with an arrangement of three working drawers below, constructed in the traditional manner with peg & joined construction. The drawers are pine lined, hand-dovetailed and close flush to the frame. The drawer fronts feature old replacement (possibly Victorian) good quality solid brass handles and & backplates. Further below, the dresser base is designed with a straight apron, supported by a decorative vase shaped central leg, flanked by block legs. The dresser legs terminate on their original block feet. This dresser boasts its original polish and patination, displaying a mellow brown oak colour, which has been created from 200 years of care.

This is a fine quality antique Welsh oak dresser, from the George III period, with a pot-board, boasting a rich oak colour, originating from South Wales, circa 1780 – 1800, in excellent condition, considering its age the over all condition is excellent. The dresser has been cleaned and wax-polished in our workshop to a professional standard. The base and rack are original to each other and are not a marriage. The shelf fronts feature 12 English made solid brass replacement cup hooks. Nominal old use marks to the top of the dresser and leading edges, but nothing significant considering the age of the item. The drawer fronts feature old replacement good quality solid brass handles and & backplates. All drawers and doors are in good working condition. The drawer linings, pot board and feet are all original. The dresser boasts the original polish; therefore, it has a fantastic depth of colour and patination displaying a lovely rich oxblood oak colour. This item is solid in joint and ready to use.
