This is a fantastic quality antique mahogany William IV two door linen press hanging cupboard, circa 1830 – 1840. The linen press features two exquisite inlaid lame mahogany locking door panels which sit below a beautiful protruding inlaid cornice. The cornice and plinth feature beautify floral inlay carvings. The doors have the original working lock and key. The doors also feature a brass rope edge vertical beading. The four chestnut lined graduated drawers in the base are all hand dovetailed. The base features the very beautiful and original brass rose carved escutcheons and handles. The linen press features an internal brass hanging rail. The linen press also features the original plinth, and back. This item dismantles into three sections for easy transportation.
This item is an excellent investment but also very practical for storage and would look superb in a variety of rooms from the bedroom, dining room, hall way or the living room. This item base would certainly grace any home. So don’t miss out your chance to own a lovely piece of furniture.
Condition Report:
Both doors close and lock comfortably. All mahogany lined drawers open freely. The working key only operates the doors only. The back, plinth, cornice, brass escutcheons and handles are all original which is very rare to see. Free of worm-worm, solid in joint and ready to use. Please remember that this item is over 200 years old so there will always be some minor wear.
