Here is an example of a superb pair of stamped French Walnut Upholstered stand / dining / hall Chairs, circa 1890 originating from 2nd Empire period. Both chairs feature a padded back and stuff over seat. The seat and back are covered in the original duck egg blue and gold embossed upholstery. The material is fixed in place with brass studs. The back features a central carved motif with carved draping scroll shoulders. The seat frame features floral carved markings and frame is supported by turned reeded legs. These chairs are stamped by the cabinet maker and feature the marking “Horrix te s Gravenhage” on the underside of the chairs. The backs of the legs are round which is a sign of good quality. The chairs are strong and would look good anywhere especially as they are comfortable and consume little space.
This item would look superb in a variety of rooms, especially the hallway, bedroom or dining room. This item would certainly grace any home or office and a great investment as they are an extremely functional. So don’t miss out your chance to own a lovely piece of furniture.

Condition Report:
These chairs are in excellent condition commensurate with their age. Nominal old use marks to the leading edges but nothing significant considering the age of the item. Excellent colour patination to the timber. No breaks to the backs or legs. The chairs feature the original upholstery which is clean and is in good condition and shows no signs of tears or rips. Free of wood worm, solid in joint and ready to use.
