This is a very good quality geometric Edwardian carved walnut two-seat rail back couch, circa 1900, which is upholstered in green draylon velvet upholstery. Although the upholstery is in reasonable condition for its age, this would be a suitable candidate for a re-upholstery project. The couch is upholstered in green draylon velvet upholstery. Designed with a geometric theme this can been seen in the carving of the frieze below the seat. The back consists of a firm padded deep button backrest. The arms of the couch boast lovely carved acanthus leaf scroll arms. The frame of the couch is interspersed with fine turned spindles, which are interspersed between carved floral fretwork splats. The couch features a scroll padded upper rail for comfort. The couch boasts a firm sprung base, which is comfortable to sit on. Below, the walnut frame is reeded at the front of the couch. The couch stands on pretty ring turned feet and it boasts the original mug castors. The back feet are splayed which is a sign of good quality.
The couch features a rich walnut colour. As it boasts the original polish, it has a fantastic colour and patination this can only be achieved through age and years of care and cleaning it has received.
This item would compliment any home, especially in the dining or living room, so don’t miss out your chance to own a lovely piece of furniture.
