This is a good quality English Georgian style solid pine housekeepers’ cupboard, circa 1960, in excellent original condition. The cupboard features an elegant breakfront design, with a cavetto cornice above three glazed cabinet doors; each of which open to reveal three internal fixed shelves. The doors feature pine latches that enable the doors to be securely closed. The cabinet interior retains its original condition; it has not been lined or painted (which is usually the case in later years). The cupboard is divided into three sections, with the centre section standing proud of the rest of the cupboard, which is commonly known as a “breakfront” design. The top section sits on a moulded base that comprises six drawers and two cupboards. There is a column of four drawers above each other in the centre, flanked by a cupboard door either side, below a single drawer. The cupboards feature internal shelves. The drawers feature their original knobs and are constructed of solid pine with butt joints. The base stands on shaped bracket feet. The back of the cupboard features its original pine backboards. The glazed cupboard top is freestanding on top of the base; this is a two-piece item, which makes it easier for safe transportation and access into smaller houses.
The cupboard features a light mellow pine colour. As it boasts the original finish, it has a fantastic colour and patination; this can only be achieved through age and years of care and cleaning it has received.
The cupboard would look superb in a variety of rooms including the kitchen, dining room, office, and library. This item would certainly grace any home. So don’t miss out your chance to own a lovely piece of furniture.
