Here is a very good large quality antique French provincial copper cauldron / log bin, circa 1850 from the 2nd Empire period. The bin is constructed from superior quality copper it has been built with a bell shape design, which allows it to stand on the ground without fear of it tipping over but also offer a pleasing aesthetics to they eye. The inside of the copper bin is lined with tin. The bin also supports stunning brass scribed handles to each side. Originally, this bin would have been used a cauldron for heating water but now, they are best known as log baskets or as a planter for housing large plants. This item is also suitable as a decorators’ piece.
This item features a rich copper colour. As it boasts the original polish, it has a fantastic colour and patination this can only be achieved through age and years of care and cleaning it has received.
