These excellent quality bedside chests constructed of solid mahogany have a single working drawer with dovetailed joints, the original wooden knobs with branded “lever” locks and each bedside has a working cupboard with shelf, circa 1840 – 1860. The bedsides chests boast traditional round cornered edges which are mirrored in the supporting plinths. They also features “splash backs” at the back of the bedsides on the tops. The backs of the bedsides also feature mahogany back boards. The drawer bottoms and linings are also constructed of mahogany. Both chests are constructed of top quality solid mahogany timber throughout. During this period, England was imported top quality timber from the colonies.
