This is a good quality set of ten matched ash, elm and beech wheel back kitchen chairs, circa 1920. The set consists of two armchairs and eight side chairs. They feature spindles to the back with a central splat featuring a carved wheel. The shaped wheel backs sit above a shaped saddle seat and below the seats are supported by an “H” stretcher, which makes them a firm set of chairs. This style of chair was usually constructed in the High Wycombe area, Buckinghamshire, England. They would look perfect in the kitchen or dining table especially around a refectory table.

This is a matched set and therefore there is some variation in colour and size. All chairs are in very good condition, which is commensurate with their age. The chairs sit firm to the ground and do not wobble. Nominal old use marks but nothing significant considering the age of the item. Free of active woodworm, solid in joint and ready to use.
