Description:
Here is a fine quality antique English 3ft 3” burr walnut and green leather desk, with small proportions, circa 1860, in excellent overall condition. The desktop incorporates a moulded top, which incorporates an old inset green leather, finished with elegant gold tooling to the perimeter. The top section comprises a row of three working drawers, with a wider central drawer and a further three drawers to each pedestal below, therefore a total of 9 drawers.
The drawer fronts are decorated with stunning burr walnut veneer and feature old replacement brass ring handles. The drawers are constructed with hand dovetail joints, with ash linings and quarter beading (a sign of quality). All the drawers retain their original working brass lever locks, with working. The pedestals sit on their original moulded plinths. The desk is freestanding, with figured walnut pedestal sides and back, which means it can be stood in the centre of the room. The desk can be dismantled into three sections for easy transport and access into the house.
