This is a very good quality antique Victorian English carved oak hall seat bench, circa 1880, in excellent condition. We understand that this bench originates from the North Wales area. The seat features a stunning arch shaped studded back with a central carved face, flanked by sweeping carved fretwork scroll foliage. The ends of the bench feature lovely turned wooden fixed baluster cushions. The seat itself, which is a stunning colour, features a carved moulded edge. Below, the recessed frieze also features detailed draped carvings interspersed with flowers which in turn end with an arch shaped further friezed. The two front legs are also profusely carved and terminated on carved paw feet. The design and carvings seen on this bench have been taken from the 16th century period.
This item features a rich dark colour. As it boasts the original polish, it has a fantastic colour and patination this can only be achieved through age and years of care and cleaning it has received.
