This is a superb quality antique Victorian mahogany loo table, circa 1860. It can accommodate up to six persons around the oval table. The table features a very good quality central supporting pedestal, which terminates in four carved splayed legs. The legs also feature the original brass casters. The table has a central decorative finial underneath. The top is detachable for easy transportation but it can be firmly attached with original brass bolts to the base. It is called a “loo” table because wealthy ladies in grand houses played the card game ‘loo’ sitting around the table taking afternoon tea at the same time hence the name ‘loo table’.
The tabletop features a superb colour / patination. The table seats between 4 – 6 people and is sufficiently tall enough to fit your legs underneath. It is sufficiently wide to accommodate serving dishes in the centre of the table. The table can be stored away by lifting the top up.
