Description:
Here is a vintage Welsh 8ft 10” solid oak farmhouse kitchen refectory table, circa 1980, with exceptional build quality, in excellent original condition. The tabletop is comprises 5 solid oak planks with cleated ends, finished with an escalloped surface. It has been constructed by a cabinetmaker called “WA” and there is a copper plaque situated on the frieze on one side of the table. The table has been constructed in the traditional manner with mortise and tenon joints, and then pegged. The table is raised on substantial turned gun barrel legs, on block feet, which are united by a single stretcher at each end, and twin stretchers down the centre. The tabletop and base are original. The top can removed, if necessary, to gain access into the house. The tabletop features a lovely colour & grain configuration. The table will seat up to 10 people. It is sufficiently tall enough to fit your legs underneath and is sufficiently wide to accommodate serving dishes in the centre of the table. The twin stretchers are conveniently located in the centre under the table, to ensure chairs can be stored under the table. The table has been solidly constructed and is of excellent quality – it is extremely heavy!
The table boasts a mellow golden oak colour. This table is an excellent investment and would look superb in a variety of rooms from the kitchen to the dining room. This item would certainly grace any home. So don’t miss out your chance to own a lovely piece of furniture.
Condition Report:
This farmhouse refectory table is in excellent original condition, with exceptional build quality. There are no cup marks, burns or watermarks to the top of the table. The top is finished with an escalloped surface. Nominal old use marks to the leading edges of the frame but nothing significant considering the age of the item. The carcass is solid with no breaks, damage or loses movements. The table boasts a fantastic golden oak colour and patination; this can only be achieved through age and years of care and cleaning it has received. This table is extremely heavy, which is always a sign of good quality! This item is solid in joint and ready to use.
