This is a superb quality antique William IV mahogany piano box duet stool, circa 1840. The seat has been freshly upholstered in top quality woven brocade interspersed with velvet pink tufts and gold braiding. The lift-up seat lid is hinged with the original brass hinges and brass stay to the box below. The brass stay has a locking mechanism, which allows the lid to be fixed open while accessing the box. The box is ideal for storage of music sheets and other papers. The frame of the stool is construed with mahogany and it stands on the original William IV ring turned and hexagonal shaped legs.
The stool features a rich mahogany dark brown colour. As it boasts the original polish, it has a fantastic colour and patination this can only be achieved through age and years of care and cleaning it has received.
