Description:
Here is a fine quality antique George III oak low farmhouse dresser base & rack, circa 1800, in good condition. The style of dresser originates from the county of Shropshire or general West Midlands area. The dresser measures 6ft 3” wide and boasts its original rich brown oak colour and patination. The dresser comprises a base & rack, with the rack featuring a moulded scalloped cornice, above a shaped apron. The rack has three plate racks and retains the original wide pine backboards. The rack rests on top of the dresser base, but is designed to be fixed to the wall. The dresser base features a twin-plank moulded oak top, above a bank of three large cross-banded, mahogany cock beaded drawers. The drawer fronts incorporate replacement period Victorian brass knobs. The drawer linings and bottoms are oak and constructed with hand dovetail joints. Below, the dresser base boasts a shaped apron and is raised on square legs to the front and rear, a single plank backboard to the rear, and the frame as a whole is built using with the traditional peg construction method.
The dresser features a superb rich brown oak colour. As it boasts the original polish, it has a fantastic colour and patination; this can only be achieved through age and years of care and cleaning it has received (it cannot be recreated by re-polishing).

This antique dresser is in excellent condition, which is commensurate with its age. Nominal old use marks to the leading edges and top, including inside of drawers, but nothing significant considering the age of them. The drawer fronts incorporate replacement period Victorian brass knobs. The dresser is raised on its original legs, frame, top, drawer linings, bottoms, rack and backboards. The dresser has been cleaned and French polished in our workshops. It has a fantastic rich brown oak colour and patination this can only be achieved through age and years of care and cleaning it has received. The dresser is well constructed, solid in joint with no loose movements and is ready to be used.
