Description:
This is a fine quality antique English Edwardian Chippendale style mahogany glass Bijouterie display cabinet / table, circa 1910, in excellent original condition. This Bijouterie table comprises a hinged gland, blind fretwork floral carved top, which opens up to gain access to the cabinet. The interior has been newly lined with a top quality a traditional green wool baize. The cabinet retains its original working lock and key. The glass is original and in excellent condition. The cabinet is raised on four tapering blind fretwork floral carved legs, terminating on spade feet, which are united by an under-tier shelf.
The cabinet boasts classic Edwardian design and styling, which is evident in the fine delicate design, Chippendale influence and design of the frame as a whole.
The item features a warm, rich mahogany colour. As it boasts the original polish, it has a fantastic colour and patination; this can only be achieved through age and years of care and cleaning it has received.
This item would look superb in a variety of rooms, especially the living room or office. It would certainly grace any home and is a great investment, as it is extremely functional.
Condition Report:
This Bijouterie display table is in excellent original condition. Nominal old use marks to the leading edges, but nothing significant, considering the age of the item. The glass is original and is in excellent condition, with no damage. The cabinet retains the original working brass lever lock and working key. The brass hinges are also original. The interior has been newly lined with a top quality a traditional green wool baize. The carved detail to the frame and legs are also in excellent condition, with no missing pieces. The table has been traditionally French polished by hand in our workshop; therefore, the finish and colour are in excellent condition. The item is solid in joint and ready to use.
