Description:
This is a superb quality antique English Georgian dining table, constructed of solid flame mahogany, with a “D” end design, seating up to 10 people, circa 1800, in excellent original condition. Constructed from top quality mahogany, the table features a solid flame mahogany top with a stunning colour, above a straight frieze. The table is raised on lovely tapering moulded legs. The table consists of a pair of ‘D end’ tables with a centre-section and two additional ‘drop-in’ leaves for extending the table. The table can be configured in a multitude of different ways: the two ‘D ends’ can be used separately as console tables, or they can be locked together to form a circular centre table, which will seat four people. The two ‘D ends’ can be attached either side of the centre-section, which will seat six people. The legs can be folded out on one ‘D end’ to accommodate one of the drop-in leaves, creating a table which will seat 8 people. Finally, the legs of both ‘D ends’ can be extended, such that both drop-in leaves can be attached, in order to create the full-size dining table, which will comfortable seat up to 8 people. This ability to be configured in so many different ways allow the table to be utilised in the best way possible according to room size and intended use. The table retains its eight brass clips, which are used to connect the various leaves together, and the underside of the table retains the original steel strap hinges and locking latch mechanism, which is rare to see. The chairs in the picture are not included in the price.
The table boasts a stunning rich brown mahogany colour. It has fantastic colour and patination this is due to the years of care and cleaning it has received. This item would look superb in a variety of rooms, including the living room or dining room, as use as a dining table or a pair of console tables. This truly is a very beautiful item with quality construction and is original throughout. This item would certainly grace any home, as it is a fantastic investment. So, don’t miss out on your chance to own a lovely piece of furniture.
