Description:
This is a handsome antique English Georgian linen press / cupboard, constructed with flame mahogany, circa 1800, in good overall condition. The linen press incorporates a dentil moulded cornice to the top, above two decorative flame mahogany panel doors. The left-hand door retains its original brass sliding latches, while the right-hand door features a working lever lock (with working key). The top section opens to reveal a spacious interior, including a brass hanging rail. The base section comprises a two-over-two drawer configuration, with further plentiful storage space. The drawer sides are oak lined and hand-dovetailed, therefore constructed in the original manner. The drawer fronts are decorated with elegant flame mahogany fronts, cock-beaded detail, whilst retaining the original brass swan neck handles and circular backplates, key escutcheons and working locks (with key). The linen press is raised on its old replacement bracket feet. The wardrobe also features the original pine backboards. The linen press dismantles into two sections (top and base) allowing easy access up the staircase and into the bedroom.
This Georgian wardrobe features a rich red-brown mahogany colour. It has a fantastic colour and patination; this can only be achieved through age and years of care and cleaning it has received.
This Georgian mahogany linen cupboard is an excellent investment but is also very practical for storage and would look superb in a variety of rooms, especially the bedroom. This item would certainly grace any home.

Condition Report:
This is a handsome antique English Georgian linen press / cupboard, constructed with flame mahogany, circa 1800, in good overall condition. Nominal old use marks to the leading edges and specifically the sides, with old restoration patches near the waist, but nothing significant considering its age. The linen press has been cleaned and French polished by hand to a professional standard in our workshop, therefore the colour and patination is of an excellent standard. The interior has been fitted with a brass hanging rail. The doors lock using the original brass working lever lock (with working key). The drawers retain their original brass swan neck handles and circular backplates, key escutcheons and working locks (with key). Some inwards movement to the two bottom drawer fronts, although nothing unusual considering the age of the item. The linen press is raised on old replacement bracket feet. The linen press retains its original backboards. This item is solid in joint and ready to use.
