Description:
Here is a fine quality antique English Georgian fruitwood & satinwood string inlaid lowboy side table, circa 1780, displaying a lovely mellow colour and patination, in excellent condition. The table incorporates a three-plank bow-fronted top, decorated with satinwood string inlay, above three drawers. The drawers feature scribe moulded and satinwood string inlaid fronts, decorated with cock-beading, having replacement good quality brass fretwork back-plates and swan neck handles. The drawers are oak lined and constructed with hand dovetail joints. The drawers run smoothly and close flush to the frame. Below, the table features a scribe moulded ‘cutaway’ frieze and stands on scribe moulded tapering block legs. The table features the original top and backboard to the rear; the frame has been constructed in the traditional method.
This item features a lovely mellow brown colour. As it boasts the original polish, it has a fantastic colour and patination; this can only be achieved through age and years of care and cleaning it has received.

This lowboy table is in excellent condition. Nominal old use marks to the leading edges, drawer fronts and top, but nothing significant considering the age of the item (see photos). The drawers are in good working order and close flush to the frame. The drawers feature scribe moulded and string inlaid fronts, as well as hand dovetail construction and the original drawer linings and bottoms. The drawers have replacement good quality brass fretwork back-plates and swan neck handles. The table features the original top and backboard to the rear; the frame has been constructed in the traditional joined construction method. The table boasts a lovely mellow colour and patination. This table is well constructed, solid in joint and ready to use.
