Description:
Here is a fine quality antique English Georgian oak cross-banded lowboy / side table, circa 1780, displaying a lovely rich colour and patination, in excellent condition. The table incorporates a twin-plank moulded oak top, decorated with cross-banding, above three drawers, comprising two small drawers above a wide lower drawer. The drawers feature period replacement elegant brass fretwork back-plates and swan neck handles. The oak lined drawers are constructed with hand dovetail joints and the drawer fronts are decorated with cock-beading. The top drawer incorporates a working lock, with working key. The drawers run smoothly and close flush to the frame. Below, the table is decorated with a decorative shaped central frieze and stands on block tapering legs. The table features the original top and backboard to the rear; the frame has been constructed in the traditional method.
This item features a lovely rich mid brown oak colour. As it boasts the original polish, it has a fantastic colour and patination; this can only be achieved through age and years of care and cleaning it has received.
This item would look superb in a variety of rooms from the living room to the hallway. The table would certainly grace any home or office and is a great investment, as it is extremely functional. So don’t miss out on your chance to own a lovely piece of furniture.
