Description:
This is a stunning quality antique English Regency mahogany tilt top breakfast / dining table, circa 1830, which can seat 4-6 people, in excellent condition. The table boasts a rectangular moulded two-piece figured mahogany top. The table features an old period replacement brass locking latch, which allows the tabletop to be tilted vertically for storage and to show off the lovely grain configuration on the top, or removed for easy transportation. The table retains its original solid brass thumbscrews either side of the hinges, which can be tightened once the tabletop is folded, or unfolded, to secure it in position. Removing these brass screws detaches the table-top from the pedestal base. The table is raised on a central ring turned, column, which terminates on four splayed reeded legs. The legs rest on the original brass castors & castor cups.
The table can accommodate between 4 – 6 persons and is sufficiently tall enough to comfortably fit your knees underneath. It is also sufficiently wide enough to accommodate serving dishes in the centre of the table.
The table boasts a rich mahogany colour. As it boasts the original polish, it has a fantastic colour and patination this can only be achieved through age and years of care and cleaning it has received.
This tilt top table would look superb in a variety of rooms from dining room, drawing room or library. The table would certainly grace any home or office and is a great investment, as it is extremely functional. So, don’t miss out on your chance to own a lovely piece of furniture.
