Description:
This is a good quality antique Georgian butlers’ tray, constructed of mahogany, on a bar-shaped stand, circa 1820, in good original condition. This type of tray was used both on grand tours and campaigns, but also in wealthy houses for serving drinks. It features a good quality large front-loading tray, with shaped side carrying handles. Constructed with fine quality mahogany with a dovetail construction, it is reasonably heavy (a sign of quality) with an original stunning colour & patination. The base of the Georgian butlers’ tray is constructed from a single mahogany plank (another sign of quality). The tray is supported by new webbed straps, on a good quality bar-shaped mahogany-folding stand, with uniting ring-turned stretchers for additional support. What makes this an unusual and rarer example is the fact that it features a good-sized tray. This tray and table are a classic example from the late Georgian period and it boasts a stunning colour and patination.
The Georgian butlers’ tray boasts a rich red mahogany colour. As it boasts the original polish, it has a fantastic colour and patination; this can only be achieved through age and years of care and cleaning it has received. This truly is a beautiful item with quality construction and is original throughout.
This Georgian butlers’ tray would look superb in a variety of rooms from the hallway to living or dining room. This item would certainly grace any home or office and is a great investment, as it is extremely functional. So, don’t miss out on your chance to own a lovely piece of furniture.
