Description:
This is a stunning quality pair of rare antique English Victorian oak desk / library armchairs, circa 1860, which have been newly upholstered in brown leather, in excellent condition. The armchairs are designed with elegant but supportive shaped backs, incorporating a decoratively pierced central splat, secured by elegant shaped arms. The shaped arms also feature upholstered leather sections, for comfortably resting your arms or elbows.
The armchairs have been newly upholstered to a professional standard in top quality full grain brown leather; incorporating new springs and the original horsehair fillings, showing exceptional craftsmanship, with deep button upholstery to the wide stuff-over seats. The leather is finished with hand-tacked antique brass studs to the perimeter of the upholstery and traditional hessian backing to the underside. The front legs are raised on elegantly turned supports, terminating on brass cup castors. The chairs stand on their original turned baluster legs to the front and splayed legs to the rear, terminating on brass castor cups.
They boast a fantastic colour and patination; this can only be achieved through age and years of care and cleaning they have received. These armchairs would look superb in either a traditional or contemporary setting, perfect in a variety of rooms from the office, library or living room. They would certainly grace any home and is a great investment as it is extremely functional and comfortable.
